Through this book, I want to tell children that it's possible to love History at any age. More importantly, this book highlights the importance of knowing one's own history. It also reminds us that heroes are often among us, perhaps even within our own families. Sékou's dilemma in the face of his friends' reproach invites reflection on whether it's worth giving up what we love to please those around us — a reminder that it's essential to stay true to oneself.
